L’ultima volta in Italia l’ha vista protagonista di due concerti sold out al Blue Note; Judith Hill, apprezzata cantautrice di Black music, sarà di ritorno a Milano, in Santeria Toscana 31, giovedì 3 novembre 2022. L’ultimo album di Judith Hill Baby, I'm Hollywood!, pubblicato a marzo 2021, è una vera escursione approfondita negli annali della Black music. Ricco di soul d’altri tempi, sbalorditive ballate per pianoforte e grintoso funk venato di psichedelia, l'autoprodotto Baby, I'm Hollywood! vede una Hill libera, concentrata e rinata. Accompagnata da una vivace band dal vivo e da una nuova attitudine, la cantautrice riflette su piacere, dolore, celebrazione e relative conseguenze, che animano questa raccolta di pezzi finemente cesellati.
Originaria di Los Angeles, Judith Hill nasce in una famiglia musicale giapponese/afro-americana. La madre Michiko e il padre Robert (alias Pee Wee) si sono incontrati come componenti di una band funk degli anni '70 e continuano a esibirsi nell'ensemble di supporto di Judith, oltre ad aver partecipato alle registrazioni di Baby, I'm Hollywood!. Dopo essersi laureata in Composizione musicale alla Biola University, nel 2007 Hill parte alla volta della Francia per unirsi alla touring band della superstar francese Michel Polnareff. Una volta rientrata negli Stati Uniti, Judith ha intrapreso una fulminea ascesa come cantante soul, cantautrice e bandleader di carattere.
Nel corso di un decennio particolarmente prolifico, la cantante ha collaborato con artisti leggendari. È stata selezionata per duettare con Michael Jackson in I Just Can't Stop Loving You durante i suoi concerti londinesi del tour This Is It. Dopo l’improvvisa scomparsa della star nel giugno 2009, Hill ha avuto visibilità a livello mondiale cantando al suo funerale. La sua storia è tra quelle raccontate in 20 Feet from Stardom, il documentario narrato da Morgan Freeman che ha come protagoniste le coriste dietro alle più grandi leggende musicali del ventunesimo secolo. Inoltre la Hill ha partecipato alla quarta stagione di The Voice USA, ha lavorato con Spike Lee, John Legend, Josh Groban, e il suo album di debutto da solista è stato prodotto da Prince.
